Kato Creations ("we," "us," "our") sells lifestyle and gift products to customers in the United States.

1. Scope

This policy applies to personal information collected through katocreations.com (the "Site"), our checkout, and related customer-service interactions. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that operate under their own privacy policies.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

Contact and delivery details, such as your name, email address, shipping and billing address, and phone number if you choose to provide it.
Order and transaction details, including products ordered and order history. Payments are processed by Shopify and its payment processors; we do not receive or store your full card number.
Messages and support requests, including photos you send for return requests.
Marketing preferences.
Personalisation content, such as names or dates you enter to personalise a product.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Site, we and our partners collect device and usage information such as IP address, browser and device type, approximate location derived from IP address, referring pages, pages viewed and how you interact with the Site. This is collected through cookies, pixels and similar technologies.

3. How we use information

Process, ship and deliver your order, and send order and shipping updates.
Handle returns, refunds, cancellations and customer-service requests.
Operate, secure and improve the Site.
Detect and prevent fraud and misuse.
Send marketing emails if you have agreed or where the law allows.
Show and measure advertising, including on other websites and platforms.
Comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

4. How information is disclosed

We disclose personal information only as needed to:

Shopify, which hosts our checkout and order management;
payment processors, to process your payment;
shipping carriers, to deliver your order and provide tracking;
service providers that help fulfil and deliver orders;
analytics and advertising partners such as Google, to measure Site performance and show relevant ads; and
professional advisers, authorities or others where required by law, to protect our rights or safety, or in connection with a sale or reorganization of our business.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Our use of advertising cookies and pixels may count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information for targeted advertising under some US state laws. You can opt out as described in Section 6.

International transfers: Our checkout and service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Your personal information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers and partners operate. We take reasonable steps to protect your information when it is transferred.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to make the Site and checkout work, remember your cart, understand Site traffic and support advertising. Analytics and advertising partners such as Google may set their own cookies to measure activity and show ads based on your visits. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where offered, our cookie banner. You can learn about Google's practices at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and adjust ad personalization at myadcenter.google.com. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.

6. Your choices and privacy rights

Marketing emails: every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor unsubscribe requests promptly, as required by the CAN-SPAM Act. You can also email designs@katocreations.com to unsubscribe. We will still send transactional emails about your orders.

US state privacy rights: depending on where you live, including California and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to:

know and access the personal information we hold about you, including the categories we collect, use and disclose;
delete your personal information;
correct inaccurate personal information;
opt out of the sale of your personal information or its sharing for targeted (cross-context behavioral) advertising;
obtain a copy of your personal information in a portable format; and
not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To make a request, email designs@katocreations.com with the subject "Privacy Request." We will verify your request using information associated with your order or email address and respond within the time required by law. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows; we may ask for proof of authorization. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond within the time required by law.

Global Privacy Control: we treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising, for that browser.

Categories of information (California disclosure): in the past 12 months we have collected identifiers (such as name, email, address and IP address), commercial information (such as purchase history), internet activity information, approximate geolocation, and the contents of customer-service communications. We collect it from you, your device and our service providers, for the purposes in Section 3, and disclose it to the categories of recipients in Section 4. Identifiers and internet activity information may be shared with advertising partners for targeted advertising. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give rise to a right to limit its use under California law.

7. Data retention and security

We keep personal information for as long as needed to fulfill orders, provide customer service, handle returns and warranty issues, and meet legal, tax and accounting obligations. When it is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, and our checkout runs on Shopify's secure platform. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows the most recent revision. If we make material changes, we will provide notice as required by law.
